Films are cheap. You can shoot one on your mobile, edit on a basic computer and broadcast online. Anyone can be a film maker.

We also all have voices, but not everyone can spin a gripping yarn, enthral an audience, or even sing in tune.

Halfpenny Films brings over two decades of film making, story telling, emotion creating, process explaining experience to businesses of all sizes and all budgets. From training films, to drama and children's television to science documentaries, we have the experience, skills and contacts to get your story, your dream or your point onto the screen in the most effective, efficient and professional way.

Pre-Production
This is where the fun starts. From doodles on the back of a beer mat, to the first 'action', we will make sure what's inside your head hits the screen, and everyone is on the same page.
We can script and shotlist (or storyboard) in-house, or outsource if needed. We will also produce schedules and budgets that will stick.
What We Do
Production
From a simple one person HD product shoot to multi camera 4K drama reconstructions, we have the experience and abilities to make any subject shine. Filming with a large crew can be expensive, so we will make sure we get what's needed in the time and on budget.
Post-Production
This is where the magic happens. So much depends on this stage. The pace, style and music all go towards drawing in your viewers, getting them to feel how you want, so they take your message home with them. It's your film, so we will make sure you're kept in the loop throughout.
We have HD edit facilities in house and can finish to any resolution required.

Technology now is such that big expensive studios are no longer needed to produce amazing images and sound. Some businesses are happy to pay to support fancy offices and staff, but we can put much more of a client's hard earned cash on the screen. We can also shoot and edit small films 'in house' to restricted budgets that simply wouldn't interest larger companies.

If brief and budget call for it, we have a phone book bursting with the UK's very best crews, animators, designers, drone flyers, prop specialists, composers etc. who will be happy to jump on board. Anything is possible!

We also very aware of so many talented young people in the area. One goal is to build a business to provide an environment where young people can work to expand their talents and develop skills to get a descent foothold in the (almost impenetrable) world of media and TV production.

Why Halfpenny Films?
Well, we're lucky to be based in the Cotswold town of Lechlade on Thames. 200 years ago, visitors would have to part with a half penny to cross the famous 'halfpenny bridge'. These days, we let you in for free.

About Halfpenny Films
Halfpenny films is a new company started by me, Ian Marsh, in 2018.
I've been working in TV for over 25 years. Starting as tea boy, I soon moved into editing, then into writing and directing. I have made films about everything from hip implants to spark plugs and car commercials to training films for government agencies. I have produced a wide range of training and motivational films for the British Army and Navy.​
